1.6 billion Muslims around the world are about to begin observing the Islamic month of Ramadan. For thirty days, they will refocus their devotion to Islam while fasting from food and drink from sunrise to sunset.

During this special time, we invite followers of Jesus to focus their prayers on the Muslim world.

But what makes this holy month so spiritually significant for Muslims, and why are our prayers especially crucial during these thirty days?

Let us tell you why through the story of Firas, a young Syrian refugee.

When war descended upon his hometown in Syria, Firas fled with his mother and brother to a nearby Middle Eastern country.

Now, in the middle of Ramadan, Firas faces new challenges: the lack of income, the mysterious disappearance of his father, and the more fundamental question—Can I ever do enough to be freed from shame?

You can discover Firas’ story in the Ramadan prayer guide, Searching for a FatherBut it’s more than a prayer guide. It’s a human portrait of religious customs, cultural experiences, and spiritual questions many Muslims encounter—as seen through the eyes of Firas and his family.
