The Balkans is a region in southern Europe, east of Italy across the Adriatic Sea. Surrounded by seas and studded with mountain ranges, the Balkans owes its name to a Turkish word meaning “wooded mountain range.”

The countries of the Balkans continue to heal from decades of communist rule and the civil wars of the 1990s. Today, Frontiers teams in the region report that the Balkans is poised for a harvest.
