God is transforming marriages and families as two Muslim-background friends embrace the message of Jesus Christ.

Ramzi had been a strict follower of Islam his entire life. He was a respected Islamic leader in his conservative Muslim community and taught the Quran at the local mosque.

But Ramzi had questions about his faith. And he wasn’t alone in his doubts.

Ramzi’s friend Ilyas had also been seeking answers to his spiritual questions. Intrigued by what he was reading about Jesus on an evangelistic social media page, Ilyas reached out to learn more.

He was put in touch with Alejandro, a Frontiers worker, and they made plans to meet at a mall.

Ramzi came with Ilyas to meet Alejandro. And at a small table in the middle of the mall’s food court, they sat down to study the Bible together.

As they read from the Word, Ilyas and Ramzi couldn’t get enough of it. The Lord had prepared their hearts ahead of time, and by the end of their meeting Ilyas and Ramzi joyfully confessed Jesus Christ as their Savior.

As they grow in faith, God is transforming both their marriages and families.

Since then, Alejandro has been meeting twice a week with the two new believers. Together they’re diving deep into Scripture and discovering how to live for Jesus. As they grow in faith, God is transforming both their marriages and families.

Ilyas’ wife, for example, noticed how her husband was loving her more intentionally. After Ilyas shared the Gospel with her, she had a dream of Jesus. Now she’s following Christ and sharing the Good News with their neighbors.

Ramzi’s wife has also come into the Kingdom—in spite of her father’s threats to harm her family if she didn’t leave her Jesus-following husband.

Meanwhile, the two men have suffered for Christ. After becoming a believer, Ramzi lost his job teaching at the mosque—and with it, he’s lost his income and housing stipend.

Ilyas’ boss discovered him reading the Word during a break and fired him. He’s had difficulty finding work since then.

Yet both Ilyas and Ramzi are full of joy and peace. God has given them a vision to bring Gospel transformation to their entire community. They’re telling people about Jesus and giving Bibles to those who want to learn more. Even local religious leaders are asking Ilyas and Ramzi to tell them about Christ.

  • Praise God for drawing Ilyas and Ramzi to Christ—and for their faithful witness to their families and Muslim neighbors.
  • Pray for boldness and protection as new believers share Christ with others in their Muslim communities.
  • Ask God to continue using social media to connect workers with Muslims who are ready to respond to the Gospel.
