God’s Kingdom Come: A Story From the Field

When the pandemic sent our country into lockdown, many Muslims around us were suddenly out of work. Hundreds of families had no income and nothing to eat.

As my team and I asked God how to respond, He reminded us that His Kingdom is not confined. Even in the suffering of the pandemic, the Gospel is advancing on earth—and in Muslim homes.

With Frontiers’ help, we received a grant to distribute a month’s supply of food to families in need. Then an anonymous donor tripled the amount so we could feed 400 Muslim families.

Even in the suffering of the pandemic, the Gospel is advancing on earth.

From the start, we knew that God wanted all our networks of relationships involved in this effort. Our Muslim friends referred us to families in need. Local believers volunteered to help visit the families and distribute food. Our sending churches and supporters got on their knees to pray and fast for the effort. Our national partners, our Muslim friends, and our senders—they all converged for such a time as this.

We trained our local volunteers, then started visiting Muslim homes together to deliver food.

In every visit, we found that no one in the household had ever seen the words of the Bible. After sharing the message of the Kingdom, we asked if they would like to read from God’s Word.

For the first time, men and women in these households read passages like Matthew 6:31–33: “Do not be anxious… But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Many families asked to continue meeting with us to study the Bible and learn more about Jesus.

Our national partners, our Muslim friends, and our senders—they all converged for such a time as this.

The Lord has used the pandemic to draw Muslims to new life in Christ. At the same time, He has been working in the hearts of our local Christian partners.

Most Christians in this country have no meaningful contact with Muslims. As a persecuted minority, they generally fear Muslims and believe they are impossible to reach with the Gospel.

But through this project, local believers got their first chance to be welcomed into Muslim homes. They heard us share the Gospel and saw with their own eyes how hungry Muslims are to know Jesus. Soon they were making new friends and initiating spiritual conversations with men and women in the households.

“I can now envision thousands of Muslims from our city coming into the Kingdom.”

These brothers and sisters now have a vision to share Christ with Muslims. Many of them are praying daily for every family we’ve visited.

“I can now envision thousands of Muslims from our city coming into the Kingdom,” said one local believer after visiting several homes with us.

Praise God that the pandemic can’t stop His Kingdom. Thank you for your prayers and sacrificial giving. They’re helping transform lives as Muslims engage with God’s Word and hear for the first time that they can know and love Jesus Christ.

  • Praise God that many Muslims are now reading the Word, and pray that many will desire to learn more about Jesus.
  • Thank the Lord for opening doors for Frontiers teams and local believers to proclaim the Good News in Muslim homes.
  • Pray that national Christians will share the Gospel message with boldness as they reach out to Muslim families.
  • Ask the Lord to call forth more laborers to serve on teams in the Muslim world and to use their skills and education to point people to Christ.
