Fear is common to all people—but as followers of Jesus, we are called to set aside anxiety and uncertainty. Scripture reminds us repeatedly, “Do not be afraid.”
When we experience fear, we can lean into God’s truth and promises to find hope in every situation.
1. Rest in God’s Sovereignty
Fear often stems from feeling out of control. But in truth, we were never the ones in charge. God is in control of every circumstance, and He has a plan for each of our lives. Romans 8:28 assures us that “in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.” Resting in His authority brings peace beyond understanding.
2. Meditate on Scripture
God’s Word is powerful in fighting fear. Verses like Isaiah 41:10—“Fear not, for I am with you”—remind us of His presence and strength. Regularly reading and meditating on verses like these reminds us that we don’t face our fears alone.
3. Pray Boldly
Prayer is not just a way to ask for help—it’s a way to build confidence in God. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us to bring everything to God in prayer, promising that His peace will guard our hearts and minds.
4. Worship Through the Storm
Praising God shifts our focus from fear to faith. When we worship, we declare that God is bigger than our circumstances and anything we could face. Like Paul and Silas singing in prison (Acts 16), worship invites God’s presence into our moments of fear—both great and small.
5. Walk in Community
Fear isolates, but Christian community inspires. Leaning on fellow believers for encouragement, prayer, and accountability helps us carry each other’s burdens (Galatians 6:2) and stand strong together in faith. Our trials may not disappear, but they are easier to face when we don’t go it alone.
Muslim men and women who have turned to Christ often face oppression, loss, and uncertainty because of their newfound faith. Will their families abandon them? Will they lose their jobs—or much more?
At the same time, Frontiers workers go to many places in the Muslim world where the Gospel is not welcome. They risk hardship and failure, pain and isolation.
Yet, each of these faithful disciples have chosen faith over fear because of one certainty: God never fails.
His promises are true, and His power is unmatched. Let’s all choose faith, trusting in the One who has already overcome the world (John 16:33).
