Türkiye and Syria Earthquake Relief
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
—Lamentations 3:22-23
On February 6, 2023, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck southern Türkiye near the Syrian border. Hours later, another 7.5 quake ripped through the same area and more powerful aftershocks followed. More than 50,000 lives were lost and there are even more with injuries, overwhelming local hospitals and clinics. Many hundreds of buildings collapsed and millions of people already relying on humanitarian aid—many of them Muslim refugees—have been thrown into even greater turmoil.
Tens of thousands of Turks and Syrians are homeless, facing an uncertain future, and all are in urgent need of prayer and humanitarian care.
Here’s how you can pray:
- Ask God to give miraculous insight to search and recovery teams.
- Ask God to be near to those grieving the loss of loved ones.
- Pray for families to be reunited.
- Ask God to give Christian NGO workers opportunities to share the Gospel as they care for physical needs.
In addition to prayer, those living in the path of destruction left by this earthquake have many practical needs. Frontiers knows from experience that these often include food and supplies for refugees and displaced people, medical care, local-language Bibles and media resources, and aid for those who have lost everything.
